We had a grand celebration yesterday as Bella Vista was dedicated. The mayor, the media and every man, woman and child of Bella Vista was there. Today we planted coffee and dug a very deep hole for a water tank. These people are so appreciative and loving. Everything Lake Grove is doing here is appreciated beyond words. We conducted some dental training in the afternoon and it was astonishing how new the information about basic dental health seemed to be. I hope so much that these kids start to brush their beautiful teeth. Tonight we played the best pick up baseball game ever…in the rain and the mud. Was a day to remember.
We’re having a little trouble with the blog so I am writing this from Honduras as a comment. Today we played the rainiest game of baseball – no calling a game due to rain here! All the villagers were either watching or playing and since none knew the rules we taught all we could. Afterwards there was a soccer game where they showed us their true sport. A few of our guys played well in the rain and mud but were no match! The village is in a beautiful spot overlooking the mountainside of fields. I spent the morning with Joan making lunch for all and now feel competent in tortilla shaping. Returning to the village today was great – many were waiting for us and we now know people and faces and are happy to be with them again. They are a group of people with great faith and hope and have been an inspiration to us all. Thanks for your prayers – Andrea
